The ILF Board of Directors Page Two Richard Joselson graduated from Columbia College and Yale University Law School. After law school, he joined the Criminal Appeals Bureau of The Legal Aid Society in New York, where he is currently Senior Supervising Attorney. Between 1995 and 2004, when New York had a death penalty statute, Mr. Joselson worked with the Capital Defender Office providing representation in death penalty cases and defeat the statute. He was also an active member of the Board of Directors of Legal Aid Rwanda. |
Polly Mallinson, born in the UK, graduated in Social Anthropology from the University of Cambridge, and received a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. Between 1996 and 1998, Ms. Mallinson worked for the European Commission first in Brussels at the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) desk and later in the Economic and Political Section of the EC Representation in Jakarta, Indonesia. Since 2000 she has been working in production for documentary and feature films. |
Nicola Reindorp graduated from King’s College Cambridge with a Masters in Social and Political Science and has a Masters of Science in Development Studies from the London School of Economics. Between 1995 and 2000, Nicola worked for Oxfam Great Britain as a policy advisor, first on the Great Lakes region of Central Africa and later other African conflicts and, in 1999, was seconded to Oxfam International’s Washington DC advocacy office. In 1998, Nicola was seconded to the UN to develop a strategic framework for the UN’s work in Rwanda. In 2000, she joined the Humanitarian Policy Group of the Overseas Development Institute in London as a research fellow, undertaking research on donor coordination and UN humanitarian coordination before leaving in 2002 to establish Oxfam International’s New York advocacy office, focused on influencing the policy and practice of the United Nations in responding to civilians caught in conflict, where she was the head of the office for 5 years. |
Rebecca Symington, born in the U.K. and raised in France, graduated from the University of Sussex, received a Masters of African Area Studies from the London School of Economics and a Masters of Public Administration from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. After an initial period working on fair trade initiatives with producers in Latin American and Africa from 1992 to 1995. Since 1995 Rebecca has worked with the United Nations, including UNDP, the Department of Peace Keeping Operations and UNICEF in Rwanda, Kosovo and northern Uganda. Her assignments have included managing programs related to the rehabilitation of the judiciary, protecting minority rights, the rights of displaced persons, and preventing and responding to unlawful recruitment of children into armed groups and forces. Rebecca is currently based in New York, working in UNICEF to support its programs to protect children affected by armed conflict. |
Stephanie Kleine-Ahlbrandt is an International Affairs Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, on sabbatical from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva where she last served as China Program Manager. She worked as a human rights officer in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe; and for the United Nations Human Rights Field Operation in Rwanda, where she was responsible for conducting investigations into allegations of genocide and gross violations of human rights. She received a BA from Indiana University and a Masters Degree from the Graduate Institute of International Studies of the University of Geneva. |
