The Honourable Justice Dunstan Mlambo is currently Judge President of the Gauteng Division of the High Court of South Africa. He has three decades of experience as a distinguished lawyer and judge, and served as the chairperson of Legal Aid South Africa from 2002 to 2019. Justice Mlambo has played a pivotal role in expanding access to justice around the world, chairing the UNODC Expert Group that approved the United Nations Principles and Guidelines on Access to Legal Aid in Criminal Justice Systems in 2011. He also chaired the UNODC expert group that revised the Nelson Mandela Rules, setting United Nations standards for the treatment of prisoners. Justice Mlambo holds a law degree from the University of the North and is a trustee of the Legal Resources Centre in South Africa.
